The Property Person of the Year recognises an impressive community leader who has played a major role in helping construct Australia. The 2015 Property Person of the Year award was presented to Mr Iwan Sunito at a charity fundraising dinner in aid of Warrah Disability Services and St. Vincents Prostate Cancer Centre. The event was held at Doltone House, Pyrmont, Sydney and around 400 industry representatives attended the occasion.

Ben Fordham - Master of Ceremony and a broadcaster on 2GB - conducted an easy, interesting and fun interview with Iwan about his earlier days starting out in the industry, his family and his outstanding achievements.

Mr Iwan Sunito

Iwan Sunito founded the Crown Group in 1996 and it has grown to become one of the leading developers of high end apartments in Sydney with a portfolio of projects worth more that $4.5 billion.


Iwan was brought up in a small town in Central Kalimantan before moving to Australia where he studied architecture at the University of NSW followed by a Masters of Construction Management. He formed Crown Group with business partner Paul Sathio in 1996. 

Crown Group is well known for combining design quality with iconic apartment developments that are always special. The flowing shape of the incredible Infinity project at Green Square with its unique facilities are matched by the more urban Sydney by Crown Group on Clarence Street, Sydney


Iwan Sunito has received significant media coverage in the print media and on television in Australia. He has also appeared on Bloomberg Television in Indonesia, on Channel News Asia and numerous media outlets across Asia. He has published a book titled “From Borneo to Bloomberg. A Comeback Story and 13 Principles for Success”.


He has contributed to community organisations as Chairman of B2B, a business to business group that empowers young professionals, Board Member of the Global Diaspora Board- a group of 10 Indonesian leaders, Chairman of NSW Tsunami Corporate Fund that raised funds for the Tsunami in Aceh, Indonesia.


Significant projects by Crown Group include the seven-tower, resort-style Top Ryde City Living, Infinity by Crown Group in Green Square, the 29-storey V by Crown in Parramatta, the 20-storey Skye by Crown in North Sydney, Crown Ashfield, in Sydney’s thriving inner-west and Sydney by Crown Group in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.
